The Shopper's Apprentice

Headed back to Meijer this afternoon for some last minute snack food for our weekend ahead. We’ve got a lot planned! Here’s what I bought:

4 boxes Orville Redenbacher Popcorn, $6.67. Used two 0.75/2 from the 1/20 SS
8 2 liters soda, $1.19 ea, Free with coupons from the Jewel ad and the Orville Redenbacher purchases
2 Hormel Chili, $1.98. Used 0.55/2 Hormel Printable and 0.50/2 Hormel Chili Target Store coupon
2 Butterfinger Hearts, 0.79 ea, $1.58. Used $1/2 Nestle Valentin Target Store coupon
Listerine Whitening, $4.19. Used $2/1 Listerine Whitening Printable coupon (Change your zip to 33033 on this page and sort by Personal Care) and $1/1 Listerine Target Store coupon
2 Ore Ida French Fries, $2.33 ea, $4.66. Used $1/2 Ore Ida Printable coupon
TGI Friday’s Snacks, $2.33
2 M&M’s, $5.00. Used $1.50/2 from the 1/27 RP and $1.50/2 Target Store coupon
2 bags grapefruit, $4.00. Used two $2/1 5lb bag Florida Grapefruit Printable coupons (NLA)

Total after coupons was $13.41 and I got back $2 on the Listerine so net cost $11.41 with a savings of $44.33

Note: the 2 Free 2 liters when you buy Orville Redenbacher popcorn is not scanning correctly! It does indeed deduct the $1.67 for the popcorn instead of the $2.38 for the soda. If you’re in a checkout lane, make sure the cashier fixes it. If you’re at the self checkout, just hit the “help” button and the cashier will fix it. I asked about using the 0.75/2 Orville coupons and the cashier was able to scan them without a beep, so it worked for me, but I’m thinking it may have only been because the cashier had to manually enter the $2.38 deduction for the soda. While it’s not against Meijer policy to use coupons in this way, I’m not sure it would have gone through if the coupon had deducted for the soda instead. I’ve had mixed succes with this in the past: sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t!

A few more notes: if you’re doing the popcorn/soda deal with the in-ad Jewel coupon, be sure to look for Orville Redenbacher popcorn boxes that come with a Free Redbox rental! All four of the boxes I bought today have codes for Free rentals, so for $2.59 I got two movie rentals, two boxes of popcorn, and four 2liters of soda! That’s just 0.32 per item

Also the Target coupon for the Nestle Crunch or Butterfinger hearts can be combined with the BOGO Free Nestle Crunch or Butterfinger Hearts printable to get you two for Free! I wasn’t able to print this coupon again, as I printed it last time it was available.
